Sunday 22nd December      2pm till 6pm

Medicine Songs Workshop and Song Ceremony in Bristol
Sat 30th November, 2019

356 Fishponds Road, Bristol

Medicine Songs Workshop   |   2pm - 5pm   |   £20 / £15

Song Ceremony   |   7:30pm - 10:30pm   |   £15 / £10

For as long as I can remember, music has always been medicine for me. Music gives me a tangible way to relate to my inner world of emotion, feeling and imagination. In this way I would say that music is my first language.

Over the years I have been increasingly inspired by the simple ways in which music and song can communicate with the unseen world of spirit, to contact the world of the ancestors, invoke the power of the elementals, and offer our prayers of thanksgiving to the great mystery of life. In my experience, music and song as a vehicle for these spiritual practices is best learned and held in a ritual space, to keep the intention strong and the focus clear. More and more these days I feel called to practice holding a space like this for myself, and also for other people. If this feels like something which speaks to you, then this "workshop" could very well bring a lot of inspiration to you.

Please feel welcome to bring your medicine drum, rattle or guitar if you play, otherwise your voice will be plenty, for in truth that is all we really need. A pen and paper could also come in hand, and a water a full bottle of water to see you through the day.

After the workshop in the evening I will hold a Song Ceremony, putting into practice some of the songs we will have explored during the day. For sure, there will be people who will come to the Evening Song Ceremony who will not have been with us during the workshop, so those of you who choose to come to both will in a way be helping to hold the Song Ceremony with me.

The workshop is from 2pm till 5pm
The song ceremony is from 7:30pm till 10:30pm

If you plan to come to both the workshop and song ceremony, you are invited to bring some food to share between 5pm and 7pm. It is likely we will do this as a proper blessing together, as the whole day will be focused on prayer.

*** PLEASE BRING SOMETHING TO SIT ON - Sheepskins, back-rest chairs, cushions etc...

*** AND A BOTTLE OF WATER as there will not be any tea or drinks available.

Tickets for the Workshop are £20 or £15 concession
Tickets for the Song Ceremony are £15 or £10 concession

Rattery, Devon, TQ10 9LD

£10 - £20 Door / £8 - £10 Advance

I am very glad to be invited to take part in this beautiful evening of medicine songs and devotional singing in Rattery Village Hall, near Totnes in South Devon.  This event is a grand collaboration of kindred musical souls including Adrian Freedman, Ayla Schafer,  Elahn Keshvara, Susie Ro Prater,  David Oliver  and  Helen Knight.

Together we will lead a song ceremony which draws influences from various medicine and devotional singing traditions of the world, as well as original material, instrumental movements and journeys into sound and silence.  This is less a performance and more of a singing circle where we invite everyone to join our voices together in song.  The song ceremony will continue uninterrupted in the main space for the whole time, but you are welcome to come and go from the chai cafe which will be serving delicious organic hot food, raw cakes, chocolate, chai and tea.  There will be plenty of space to dance around the edge of the circle should you wish, as well as a separate quiet space for children to rest.  Please bring sheepskins and cushions to sit on, and feel free to bring bedding for any children who may want to sleep.

have never before been offered in public. I will also play and sing some songs with my guitar, all at the poignant time of Autumn Equinox, a time of balance of day and night.

My hope is for the music I share to complement the season, bringing an opportunity to reflect on the long summer days and contemplate the move into greater stillness as we head into autumn.  For me, autumn is a time when nature expresses her wisdom, a kind of bitter-sweet moment where we say goodbye to the summer and we can feel the winds of change begin to reveal the hidden secrets of winter...  There is an underlying quality of reflection in which we touch something deeply heartfelt, where the changing season speaks to each one of us in solitary silent whispers, inviting us to go deeper and listen closer to the timeless wisdom of the earth.  Autumn holds a unique beauty, intimately acquainted with undertones of melancholy, the final symphony of summer, a very personal, intimate time of great gratitude.

There will be a small cafe of tea and healthy treats.

After a long spring and summer of very few live shows, I finally feel called to share some music with you, this time back in the splendid 14th century hall of Saint Stephen's Church, an old favourite of mine which I have been waiting to revisit for some time now.  In my time away I have found inspiration playing the piano, and am especially inspired to share some compositions on a beautiful baby-grand piano, pieces which are quite personal to me, musical sentiments which have

Heaven On Earth Retreat - with Erika Tourell

Fri 10th - Sun 12th May, 2019

Sharpham House, Sharpham, nr Totnes, Devon

This will be just beautiful.  For those of you who haven't been to Sharpham Estate, you are in for a real treat!  It is simply one of the most beautiful places I have been in England, and in May, well... it is just incredible.  The house is an exquisite gem with one of the most outrageous staircases I have ever seen, which is set in 550 acres of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Over looking the River Dart with majestic woodland all around, the gardens were landscaped by the famous Lancelot "Capability" Brown, a rare treasure one can happily get lost in for an entire weekend.  This retreat is about embracing the majesty of the English countryside in the perfect month of May.  Erika will lead yoga classes to relax, ground and open our bodies to receive the healing energy of the land, and I'll do my best to help us all to deepen our connection with the spirits of nature through opening our voices in song and ritual.

You will also have a chance to receive deep-tissue massage

from Joseph Rose, and Shiatsu Therapy from Alix Thorpe.
